June 11, 2025 – Wednesday, Tenth Week in Ordinary Time (St. Barnabas, Memorial)

Gospel: Matthew 10:7–13
Context: Jesus sends the Twelve to proclaim the Kingdom, instructing them to heal, preach, and rely on God’s provision, emphasizing trust and simplicity in their mission.
Word: “As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’” (Matthew 10:7)

  • Engage 1: Jesus boldly sent others to share good news – he himself shared good news boldly
  • Incidents: Sending the Twelve (Matthew 10:5–6); commissioning 72 disciples (Luke 10:1–3).
  • Engage 2: Jesus humbly trusted God’s provision. (Did not lots of material things to them)
  • Incidents: Relying on others for support (Luke 8:1–3); feeding 5,000 with little (Matthew 14:17–21).

June 12, 2025 – Thursday, Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel: Matthew 5:20–26
Context: In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches that true righteousness surpasses that of the scribes, urging reconciliation and purity of heart to avoid judgment.
Word: “If you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, go first and be reconciled.” (Matthew 5:23–24)

  • Engage 1: Jesus urged quick reconciliation with others – he himself forgave
  • Incidents: Forgiving Peter’s denial (John 21:15–17); healing relationships (John 20:23).
  • Engage 2: Jesus gently taught purity of heart – he himself was pure of heart
  • Incidents: Teaching the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:8); cleansing the temple (John 2:14–16).

Gospel: Matthew 5:27–32
Context: Jesus continues the Sermon on the Mount, teaching that purity extends beyond actions to thoughts, urging disciples to guard their hearts against lust and sin.
Word: “Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)

  • Engage 1: Jesus firmly called for inner purity – he was very pure in his dealings
  • Incidents: Teaching against sinful thoughts (Matthew 5:22); forgiving the sinful woman (Luke 7:47–48).
  • Engage 2: Jesus carefully guided moral choices.
  • Incidents: Advising the rich young man (Mark 10:17–21); teaching on marriage (Matthew 19:4–6).

Gospel: Matthew 5:33–37
