Vox Divini Meditation Notes – December 2025

December 1, 2025 – Monday of the First Week of Advent
Gospel Reading: Mt 8:5–11
Context: This story happens in a small fishing town by the Sea of Galilee. A Roman officer, who is not Jewish, comes to Jesus because his servant is very sick and cannot move. Jesus is ready to go to the man’s house, but the officer says he is not worthy and only asks Jesus to speak a word. Everyone is watching. The people expect the Messiah to help only Jews, but here Jesus shows that strong faith matters more than where someone is from. This moment teaches that God’s love and power reach everyone who trusts Him.
Word: When Jesus heard him, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, “Truly I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith.” (Mt 8:10)

  • Engage 1: Jesus responds to faith and intercession. He shows that who is praying does not matter; what truly matters is the faith behind the prayer.

While they are together in Galilee, Jesus suddenly becomes very happy in the Holy Spirit. He thanks His Father for showing the deep truths of God to simple, humble people instead of the proud and clever ones. It is like God loves to surprise everyone by choosing the little ones to understand His secrets.
